Chemical Engineer – Fermentation Scientist

This individual will lead a team engaged in pilot studies in the laboratory and prepare these processes for field applications.

This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Microbiology, or related field and experience in the optimization of fermentation processes.  Expertise with the cultivation of anaerobes and the operation of bioreactors and fermenters at small to medium scale is essential.  Familiarity with the analysis of microbial populations using molecular biology techniques is desirable.

This individual must have a proven track record as an outstanding scientist evidenced by a strong publication record and demonstrated communication skills.  The candidate must also be highly organized and able to synergize with other team members to achieve project objectives and meet project timelines.  The candidate must possess excellent written communication skills including development of protocols for internal use, preparation of reports for corporate partners and manuscripts for publication.

Bacterial Geneticist

This individual will lead a group working on identifying, isolating and characterizing genes encoding enzymes involved in novel organic transformations in anaerobic microbes.

This position requires a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or in a related discipline.  Expertise in a diverse set of molecular biological methods such as library construction/screening and expression of genes in heterologous hosts is critical.  Experience working with anaerobes and/or non E. coli novel bacterial or archaeal strains is highly desirable.  Experience in gene optimization, in vitro evolution and metabolic engineering is also desirable.

The candidate will have a proven track record of success as evidenced by a strong publication record.  This individual will also have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with team members with diverse skill sets on a dynamic project.  This individual will also have excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to articulate progress in the form of reports, publications and patents.

Molecular Biology Research Assistant

This position requires a BA or BS in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Cell Biology or related field.  The successful candidate will be proficient in computer (PC) word processing and spreadsheet programs, have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, be self-motivated and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The Molecular Biology Research Assistant will be responsible for isolating genomic DNA from diverse environmental samples, PCR, molecular cloning, library construction and DNA quantitation.  This individual will also need to be proficient with methods of handling/manipulating DNA including agarose and PAGE electrophoresis and DNA purification from these matrices.
